WB Yeats €15 Silver Coin Launched  ....
The Central Bank of Ireland has today launched a €15 limited issue silver proof collector coin to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of William Butler Yeats.

The First British Silver Crown The first silver crown was produced in 1551 under Edward VI. It was one of the first British coins to bear a date, which was in Arabic numerals.

George VI born Albert Fredrick Arthur George in 1895 was never expected to become King. After the abdication of his brother Edward VIII he became King George VI. During 1937–1952 George VI Silver Half crowns were issued until 1946

Obverse
The obverse was designed by Thomas Humphrey Paget. In keeping with tradition George's portrait faces to the left, in the opposite direction to his predecessor. George's portrait depicts his bare headed with no Crown or Laureate (A Crown of leafs).

Reverse
The reverse design was by George Kruger Gray. The reverse device is a shield with the Royal Arms on it with a Crown to its left and right both of which have interlocking G,s underneath them.
